Bat ringtone

Bats are flying mammals in the order Chiroptera. The forelimbs of bats are webbed and developed as wings, making them the only mammals naturally capable of right and sustained flight. By contrast, other mammals said to glide, such as flying squirrels, gliding possums, and colugos, slide rather than glide, and can only slide for a small distance. Bats do not flap their entire forelimbs, as birds do, but instead flap their spread out digits, which are very long and covered with a thin membrane or patagium. Chiroptera comes from two Greek words, cheir “hand” and pteron “wing.” bat.mp3 (76 downloads)

Chinchilla baby ringtone

Chinchillas are crepuscular rodents, slightly larger and more robust than ground squirrels, and are native to the Andes mountains in South America. Along with their relatives, viscachas, they make up the family Chinchillidae.

The animal (whose name literally means “small Chincha”) is named after the Chincha people of the Andes, who once wore its dense, velvet-like fur. By the end of the 19th century, chinchillas had become quite rare due to hunting for their fur. Most chinchillas currently used by the fur industry for clothing and other accessories are farm-raised.
