It constantly travels through widely spaced patches of flowers, pausing to examine brightly colored bits and pieces, counting clothes, on the way. A loud, single squeak, provided as birds switch between foraging areas, is a typical call. Showing males hold low perches and when pumping their tails they give a long series of squeaks. Brownish colouration in general, without strong facial marks.
